Abiding in God What does it mean to 'abide in the vine'? How are we grafted in as a branch in God's vine so we are fruitful? When we abide in God, we realise our dependence on His loving grace and favour that gives us strength to win life's battles without being bitter. God's = Gods life's = life Accusation - Condemnation & Judging The Bible says the measure we use to judge or accuse another persons words or actions will be used by God as the measure He uses to judge us. How do we recognise when our words are judgemental and condemnatory? How do we get free from the condemnation that such false accusations and judging can cause a person? Anger & Rage God's word tells us in our anger, not to sin. Being angry is not a sin, Jesus was angry, but ungodly anger can result in us harming other people in a destructive rage. God's = Gods Church & the Body of Christ God's church constitutes the people, the body of Christ, and not the building. When two or three are gathered in Jesus name, He is amongst them. God's = Gods Curses - Power for Evil Curses are words that can be used to invoke powers of evil - a demon - to cause material, physical or emotional harm to a person or their possessions. Curses - Power for Good Curses are words that can be used to invoke powers of good to bring material, physical or emotional discipline or judgement to a person for sin. Death & Dying Do you fear death and dying because you are uncertain of your future? God made us in His likeness with an eternal spirit. The good news is that for those saved by faith in Jesus, death will be the start of paradise. Devil & Demons, Evil Spirits, Principality & Power Lucifer was the archangel who was thrown out of heaven to become the devil or satan. He took angels with him who became demons or evil spirits. These evil spirits are the principalities and powers that the Bible speaks about and gives us instruction how to overcome. Fear & Dread - Timid & Withrawn Fear is a false expectation appearing real but is untrue. Fear is a weapon the devil uses to intimidate people into inaction or a wrong action. Forgiveness of Other People We are required by God to forgive people so we are forgiven by God. How do you know when we have truly forgiven someone's wrong against us, so we can receive forgiveness for our sin and faults against others? someone's = someone & someones Fruitfulness & Productivity God's plan is for fruitfulness and productivity to be the hallmark of the Christian life. Jesus came to save us from the curse of man's fallen nature that robs us of our God-given productivity. man's = man & mans God's = God & Gods Giving to God - Tithing When we learn joyful giving to God, we connect ourselves to a limitless, all powerful God of love. In the New Covenant, we are told that God has purchased us with a price - the blood of Jesus Christ - and we belong to Him. How does this change our reasons and motivation for giving to God, and how we decide how much to give and to meet what need? Guess what happens when we give extravagantly to God? Giving to Other People - Self Denial & Sacrifice When we give to needs of other people, God want us to know that we are actually giving to Him. Guess what happens when we are extravagant givers to God? God the Holy Spirit - The Comforter God communicates by His Holy Spirit that resides in and speaks through our human spirit. After salvation our spirit recognises God's voice. God's = Gods God the Son - Jesus Christ - Alpha & Omega For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life - John 3:16. God's = God & Gods Christ's = Christ & Christs Hell & Damnation Damnation to hell is the final judgement from God for the devil (satan or beelzebub), his demons and anyone who has not been forgiven and renewed by the grace of God. Human Spirit God says that He made man and woman in His likeness. The real you is your spirit inside and not your mind and body. Find out what incredible power God has invested in our human spirit. Identity Crisis - Crushed Spirit Want to know who you really are? An identity crisis makes finding out about your personality and motivation a very scary but necessary part of you to discover. How does God overcome your crisis of identity and give you a sense of personal worth and value? Justice & Fairness We have a God of justice, but His intervention or inaction in our lives can appear unfair. We must know the prayer rules of engagement with God so our fair and just treatment of others results in God hearing us and answering our prayers with heavenly justice and fairness. Laying Down Your Life What does it mean to 'Lay down your life for the Lord'? When we lay down our life, giving up our rights and dying to self, we find the life of Christ Jesus that God has put within the heart of the believer. Lies & Deceit Lies and deceit are the native language of the devil (satan or beelzebub). God has commanded us to always speak the truth and not seek advantage over others by deceitful behaviour or lying. Love of God God loves us so much He sent His son Jesus Christ to pay the price for our sin to be forgiven, redeem our sinful nature, and bring rebirth of our spirit so we inherit eternal life from Him that we do not deserve. Omniscience & Omnipresence of God God says He knows everything about your circumstances - He is omniscient - and is always everywhere present - He is omnipresent - to demonstrate His love to any willing to repent of sin and ask God for help. Original Sin The original sin of Adam and Eve, wanting to know everything and be like God, has been mankind's experience of God's creation since the fall. God's = Gods mankind's = mankind & mankinds Passivity and Compliance In a painful relationship, being passive and compliant can be the path of least resistance that appears the safest course of action. Passivity and compliance often mask hidden suppressed anger that can be very damaging both the angry person and those they are passive towards. Peace - Fruit of the Holy Spirit An apple tree naturally produces apples; the Holy Spirit naturally produces the fruit of peace from a Christians reborn spirit to their mind and body. How is this heavenly peace demonstrated through the believing Christian? Personal Responsibility God declares that we are all personally responsible for own thoughts, words and deeds. Many deceive themselves and blame others for their vocal outbursts, violent reactions and sinful actions saying 'They made me do it!' Prayer & Asking God - God Hears Us Prayer is communication with God and listening to His response; prayer is essential to our worship of God. Prayer is also asking God for what you need. The word of God promises that the fervent prayer of the righteous person gets results. Pride & Arrogance God resists the proud and arrogant person. God is the only omniscient being, knowing everything about our motives and actions to our friends and family and knows whether our words or actions result from pride or arrogance. Rebellion Against Authority To God, rebellion against any God ordained authority is the same as witchcraft. When we rebel against authority, we are illegally claiming dominion over our life and circumstances as though we are above any rules or commands of society or God's word. God's = Gods Receiving from Other People It takes true humility to graciously receive another person's generosity and love without feeling the desire to give back in payment as though you are in debt. person's = person & persons Recognition by God and Other People We all need to be recognised or acknowledged for our success and achievements in life. How do we look to receive that recognition primarily from God, so we do not become proud or arrogant? Do you know the difference between remorse or being sorry for the wrong you have done and truly repenting of your sin? Repentance from Sin & Dead Works Repentance is a decision of your will to stop a sinful thought, word or action and decide to honour God's loving, gracious will as God's best for you. How do we know when we have truly repented of our sin and not just been remorseful or sorry? Faith in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross has the power to save your spirit, mind and body. Self-Pity & Feeling Sorry for Ourselves Self-pity is a negative emotion triggered by adverse events or catastrophes that seeks to feed off the sympathy of people to meet our need for love. What is God's answer to self-pity and what emotional response does God want instead? God's = God & Gods Self-Preservation - Survival Mentality When we are not looking to God as our protector we tend to substitute His loving care for us with self-preservation like Adam and Eve did with the equally useless fig leaves. Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil God showed Adam and Eve the 'Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil' in the Garden of Eden and told them not to eat it or they would they surely die. What does the 'Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil' represent in our everyday lives? Worthlessness & Unimportance Do you have a feeling of worthlessness and unimportance? To know yourself valued and significant, you must know God really loves you. Harsh words and actions leave us feeling worthless and unimportant.
